Call of Duty, the popular first-person shooter series many people have grown to love has just recently announced the release date in their teaser trailer that has been posted for Call of Duty Black Ops 4. Originally this leaked on March 6, 2018, when NBA player James Harden was seen heading to a basketball game wearing a hat with what appeared to be the new COD 4 logo IIII and a full camo outfit. Perhaps this was done as a promotional partnership with the NBA or perhaps Harden is just a big COD fan wearing his favorite game’s clothing too early. Black Ops 4 has been kept secret for quite a while and has been talked about for weeks without any official confirmation from its Owner/Publisher Activision or its Developer Treyarch until now. COD Black Ops 4 will be released on October 12, 2018 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

The video also mentions that there will be a Community Reveal Event on May 17, 2018, to showcase the game. Treyarch will undoubtedly reveal gameplay mechanics, weapons, new maps, game modes and possibly showcase actual gameplay footage of the game. Until then we are left to wonder how the game will be.
From what we can see in the video, the game does seem to have the infamous Nazi Zombies that the Call of Duty games are known to include in most of their games. Nazi Zombies first came out in 2008 with the 5th COD game Call of Duty: World at War. It has appeared in numerous games since, notably in the Black Ops Series, and offers a different type of gameplay which differs from the singleplayer or multiplayer modes. You must fight wave after wave of zombies and try to survive with up to 4 players. Zombies come from windows in various areas and they can be boarded with the click of a button to prevent more zombies from coming through. You gain points for boarding up and killing the zombies, with more points awarded for headshots. The points are used to advance to newer areas in the level, purchase powerups and upgrades, and to buy guns off the wall in various locations on the map. The game is over when you escape or if everyone in the room dies.
Often times the Call of Duty series of games are pretty similar to the previous ones before it with minor changes to the game such as new maps and a new campaign but sometimes they remake what the series was into a completely different animal. For example, in the earlier games they had a World War 2 setting and then they went to the Modern Warfare series which took place in modern times with a completely different time period and gameplay. Then they jumped around again from Modern Warfare to Call of Duty: Black Ops III and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare both of which included a futuristic setting with high speed running, wall-running and jetpacks which fans seemed to have grown sick of. The most recent game from 2017 Call of Duty: WWII they went back to its earlier setting of WWII and won back some of their fan bases.
Call of Duty games have always had plenty of weapons and character customization which set them apart from other shooters. You could equip your character with all sorts of perks that allowed you to use special abilities such as an RC car with a bomb that you could detonate, a turret you can set up to automatically kill players, and an air strike you can call on in locations of your choosing among other things. All you had to do get rewarded with these items is equip the perks on your characters and then get the required kill count needed without dying for each item. The weapon customization of these games are pretty advanced and offer many numerous combinations you can choose from. You can first choose from pistols, shotguns, SMGs, assault rifles, and sniper rifles among many other weapons all of which can then be customized with different scopes, fire modes, barrels, stocks, and other weapon altering items. The possibilities were endless with the customization.
As we hear more news about the game we will keep you posted. In the meantime, as Treyarch continues to work on the game all we can do is wait and hope this game will live up to the previous title's expectation.
