There's been a lot of LEGO games over a lot of different franchises. From Star Wars to Indiana Jones to Batman, the list goes on and on, and the games always maintain the sense of style of the property they're based off of while mixing in their own blend of humor and references. It seems only fitting, then, that something like The Incredibles should receive a LEGO game adaptation, considering what a smash hit it has been since it came out way back in 2004. Today, Warner Bros. Interactive and Disney have officially announced LEGO The Incredibles, and even threw in a trailer and release date to accompany it all. And for those worried, rest assured, the developers of all the other LEGO games, TT Games, is doing this one as well.
The game will feature all the Supers you've come to know and love from The Incredibles, even the ones outside of the family themselves. Just like other more recent LEGO titles, LEGO The Incredibles will feature an open world styled hub setting, having you go to the various locations and fighting crime, as well as crime bosses. In an interview with IGN, TT Games executive producer Nick Ricks explained this mechanic. "We filled our new hub world with a whole bunch of crime bosses. As you play through the game, more areas of the hub are unlocked to you, and then you can start fighting crime in and amongst the hub world." The locations in the hub world are, naturally, based off of important locations from the movie.
Most notable about the title is its story. While you'd think it would just re-tread over the story of the first Incredibles movie, LEGO The Incredibles campaign will be based off the first movie AND the upcoming second movie, combining two stories into one for one big experience. Because of this, it will also feature Supers from the upcoming sequel. Similar to other LEGO games, this one will of course have two-player co-op, with Frozone no less, everyone's favorite ice man in a super suit. All the other expected staples of LEGO titles will be here as well, from the exploration, to the puzzle solving, to LEGO building.
As a pleasant surprise, the release date isn't too far off either. LEGO The Incredibles is set to save the world in just a few months on June 15th and will be available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC, leaving players with plenty of platforms to choose from. As some who are hyped for the movie may have noticed, that release date coincides with the release of The Incredibles 2 to theaters. Due to the game incorporating the story of the new movie, it's a perfect date to choose, as players can buy the game and watch the movie all on the same day. LEGO The Incredibles will be available both physically and digitally on all of the above platforms. You can view the announcement trailer below! Be ready for super amounts of nostalgia.
